HI, This article was written by one of our NextGenLinks.com clients and he asked me to post it here on our blog

Here’s the article, Enjoy:

**********************************************************************

Ever thought how can you get quality back-links for free without having to do a lot of hard work?

So what are quality back-links?

Let’s first decide what exactly are quality back-links so that we will look for certain ways to get them and leave other ways of getting back-links alone. What I have learned in a few years of link building for my sites and blogs is: “Quality back-links are those, which come from a page having same keywords as yours. The page you are getting your links from should never look like being spammed and must be search engine friendly. Make sure it is not included in the robots.txt and is crawled by search engine bots or crawlers on regular basis.”

As now we know what quality back-links are, so lets head towards our main goal which is to get these quality back-links easily and without having to spend a single penny.

1) Ask for them

You must know what sites have similar keywords as your sites, in other words your competitors. In case you don’t know about all of your major competitors, search for them using a search engine. Once you have a list of all of them. Select a few of them to get back-links from. This selection should be done on the basis of quality of their site, incoming links towards their site, PR, traffic and how often they appear in SERPS. Once you have done this, don’t go on and ask them for a link. Do it the other way around. Link to their site from yours. Make sure the page you have put their link on has some good traffic. Let them notice the traffic they are getting from your site. After a week or two, email them for link exchange. I am sure the other webmaster will think at least twice before turning down your request.

2) Establish Related Sites and Blogs

This certainly is the best way to get them in my opinion. Make sure the blogs/sites you create have similar keywords as your main site. The other benefit of doing this is that, once those sites start picking up traffic you can monetize them by placing ads or selling something. As, in this article I am emphasizing on getting back-links for free, so I will recommend creating a free blog on blogger.com rather than setting up a website.

3) Submit to Link Directories

Link directories are easiest way of getting back-links in my opinion. Make sure the directories you select to submit your site are high quality ones. Don’t forget to select a proper category for your site as choosing a proper category will ensure that the back-link is from a related keyword. For instance, if your site is astronomy related, choosing an astronomy category will be the best thing to do.

Make sure you can find some FREE directories. Here is a list of free and quality link directories: http://linkdirs.blogspot.com/2009/04/list-of-free-link-directories.html

4) Article Marketing

I am new to this so can’t really talk about it in depth, but I know people who have gained huge success doing article marketing in terms of back-links and traffic both. All you have to do is write a good informative article and submit it to article directories like EzineArticles.com. In the resource box of the article you place url to your site and thus get back-link and traffic and whenever someone uses your article on their blog/site a new back-link points towards your site. So these were some ways of getting free, easy and quality back-links. All you have to do is spend some time and results are unbelievably good. Try for yourself.

5) And of course, my favorite, Automated Links by NextGenLinks.com!

To learn more about that, take a look at the NextGenLinks.com homepage and be sure to browse through all of the great articles on this blog!

*************************************************************************

Thanks for the Great Article!

Everyone wants to have the time to build their link portfolio, but running an online business can be very time consuming. Hopping from website to website creating content and relevant anchor text links back to your main page and deep pages of the business website can take hours, days, weeks and even months to net some positive gains.

Link building is about more than just traffic building, it is about gaining ranking on the search engine results so that traffic is organic and sustainable. Outsourcing your link building tasks is becoming very popular but there are a few rules to the game that will keep the business fair, professional and successful.

#1 Long term relationships are good. When establishing a relationship with outsourcers for link building, a long term relationship is best. Building links is a slow process that takes time. This means gathering some great freelancers or an outsourcing company and sticking with them for the long term. Long term relationships also means a common goal and familiarity with the project over time.

#2 Personal relationships are good too! Getting to know a bit more about your outsourcing company, the workers or the owners can prove very beneficial. Talking with the freelancers or outsourcing company on a more personal level will bring them into the circle of friendship that will bond them to the project. The more personally responsible they feel for the businesses growth, the more they will give to your efforts.

#3 Know where the outsourcing company is located. Not every company hired to build backlinks will be located in the United States. This means different holidays and different times of work. Learn these and respect the fact that your 9 to 5 may not be their 9 to 5. On the other hand, link automation software companies will work 24 hours a day to build link to your website pages.

#4 Be clear with what you expect. When you outsource, you have to assume the link builders know nothing about your business. Be clear about your expectations including the Must Dos and the Never Dos. The project guidelines need to be provided in an easily accessible format, possibly a deep page on your website that is not set for bots to crawl. A blog could also be a great place to publish the scope of the project.

#5 Negotiations are always good. Negotiating a price for the link building service may take the most time. You want to get the most for your money, but you also need to be fair to the link builder. There are very low cost services, medium cost services and expensive services. The budget you have set for marketing needs to be long term as link building is not an overnight process. Spending all of the budget on one service that does not build sufficient links is a waste of time and money. Again, link automation is a great way to build links to EVERY page of your website for one, fixed rate.

There is NEVER enough time to work with the promotional side of an online business. Yet, this is one of the most important (if not THE most important) part of a business’s success. Link building is perfect for freelancers, link automation software and outsourced companies. The money spent on building great quality links, over time, will come back many fold in sales and profits in the future when page rank soars and traffic continues building.

Many website owners are confused about how to build deep links and how often these links should be added to the Internet. SEO as a whole is a detailed process with many website owners sticking with the most obvious SEO tactics like keyword usage because they simply do not understand the rest. Building internal links is much more important than the links to the main URL of a website, did you know that?

SEO experts agree that internal links, or deep links, play a very important role in the search engine popularity of a website. Think of the internal pages of a websites as the back roads in a city. The cars drive through the main streets very frequently, but that does not mean traffic does not flow to the smaller side roads as well. Internal links provide these “cars” with a new place to visit and love. The same goes for link popularity. The deep pages of a website need to gain backlinks in order to feel a bit of that traffic flow.

SEO Link Building for Trusted Websites

Websites with trusted rankings on the search engines often feel as though they have no need for internal linking, but that is not the case. However, building internal links for trusted websites may be harder than for newbie websites. Being trusted means holding a bit of Internet clout and that clout cannot be thrown around to any and every website on the Internet. Deep links for the trusted website should be scattered lightly to boost that trust.

Established websites may also benefit from navigation structural changes and simplifying the movement through their website. No user should ever get lost in a website without a clear path back to their starting destination. It is also important that all of the website content be accessible with as few clicks as possible. If the reader cannot find your information, they are not going to stick around forever.

The Outbound Link and SEO Link Building

Another misunderstanding between the SEO creators and the website owner is in the value of the outbound link. The search engine bots do not want websites that are full of themselves. What they want are websites that offer great information and links to other sources of complimentary information. There are three main rules to linking out to other websites, always use anchor text that is relevant to your site and theirs, link to content that is similar to your own and choose anchor text words that mirror your website keywords.

Some website owners worry about passing their website popularity through the links. This is often termed Do Follow. The Do Follow attribute has been a confusing trait, but one that can be easily explained. Do Follow means one website is vouching for another. No Follow is the opposite. When link building, it is important to establish only Do Follow links. Why would a search engine give props to a website for linking out to another website they do not trust.

With talks about Twitter updates being indexed by Google, a question recently came to mind.

Many Twitter users update to Twitter and other social networking websites with the same information duplicated. For instance, Twitter and FaceBook can be linked so when a post is published on one it will be duplicated on the other.

Even though there have been debates about duplicate content and search engine ranking, many marketers choose not to duplicate content for fear of the invisible red flag from Google. But, what about duplicate social networking posts?

Personal Versus Professional

Now, the casual social networking user will probably have nothing to worry about. The update about Cindy finally getting her braces off will not include links to a website or business, in most cases. However, the Internet marketer and website business often include links in their posts to website main pages, inner pages and articles used to market a business. If these posts are duplicated, exactly, will the search engine see them as SPAM?

The trouble with social networking is connectivity. This social network is connected to that social site and that social site is connected to another social network and on and on…

There was once a time when being a member of a social network meant being social, but those times have been replaced with mass updates, link posting and hourly pushes to read this and click here.

There are literally hundreds of social networks out there and if all of them eventually have their posts indexed by major search engines, how will the bots differentiate between the SPAMMERS and the businesses just trying to increase popularity the right way? It could all weigh on duplication.

Retro Indexing or Future Indexing

Another huge question about the indexing of social networking posts is when the indexing will start. If the indexing is retro fitted and all past updates are indexed, it could mean a HUGE shift in the top 10 rank listing for popular keywords.

Just imagine 10,000 or 20,000 posts being indexed from various social networks all containing back links to inner pages of a website. That could be enough to blow up servers with an over abundance of traffic hitting the website.

The Place for Social Networks in the Search Engine Results

Despite the troubles that could result from search engines indexing social network posts, there is a very real need for this integration to occur. When a fierce battle for the top 10 page is being constantly fought, website owners and Internet marketers use every tactic they can to increase traffic.

For the website that has chosen to integrate social networking, that upper hand could fall in their corner. Social networking with links is link building – the search engines just have to catch up.

So, whether or not the duplicate content will count against social networking businesses or not will probably be an issue hidden in the new algorithm for the most popular engines. Until the Tweets, bulletins and updates are indexed, we will just have to continue being social.

StumbleUpon has been one of those fun sites where the user can click and find websites they never knew existed.

Writers often use the “stumble” button to find new and exciting information for their books, websites and blogs.

Internet marketers have also been utilizing the “stumble” button from time to time as a source of incoming links and potential traffic.

But, with only 8 million users a month, there was no competition compared to the major search engine and social networking websites, until now.

StumbleUpon is ready to rebirth itself as a viable search engine which could mean more traffic for those stumbled websites.

The New Social Networking Search

The new StumbleUpon has one major feature that the previous version did not, search. Users can search the websites other community members have stumbled for information the community thinks is worth looking into.

If a user needs information on Women’s Health, they will be able to search that keyword. But, the results will be limited to the websites stumbled by users.

There are currently 35 million websites indexed in the StumbleUpon search engine. This number is sure to increase as soon as article marketers and Internet marketers get a whiff of the new social networking search engine aiming to position itself between Google and Twitter.

But why is StumbleUpon angled at just the right place to hit it big?

Unlike Twitter, FaceBook and MySpace, the information shared on StumbleUpon is linked to the Internet. The users find relevant content and share that content with other Stumble users.

There is a personal side to StumbleUpon, but this side is not as personal as many other social networking websites which could lend to the clout of the links being submitted to StumbleUpon.

Growing Traffic In Groups

Now, just because StumbleUpon is not your common social network, does not mean those other networks are not just as important for link building, traffic growth and website popularity.

For this reason, users of the StumbleUpon search engine will have the opportunity to share the information they find on other popular social networks.

With whispers about social network updates and content soon being indexed on search engines, do you realize what this StumbleUpon change means for link building?

A website URL that is stumbled is indexed on the new StumbleUpon search engine. That website is found by a StumbleUpon user and shared on FaceBook.

A friend finds the link very interesting and Tweets about the website. Followers click through to the website and decide to share it with their friends and post the link on MySpace. From one stumble grew a viral link.

StumbleUpon does have the opportunity to change the face of Internet marketing by integrating the social networking quality readers love and the viral link building that website entrepreneurs need to increase traffic and profits.

This could be a fantastic platform for boosting website presence and popularity which could mean some changes in the search engine rankings placement pages.

In order to get the best ranking results from your social pages and posts, there are a few things you need to know about how Google manages to index the billions of new posts per day, and which ones they decide to add as search results.

Here’s a follow up to our previous post on interlinking your social pages and posts.

In order to get the best ranking results from your social pages and posts, there are
a few things you need to know about how Google manages to index the billions of new
posts per day, and which ones they decide to add as search results.

The first thing you need to know is that the social pages that are indexed are no longer
stored on a hard disk like they were ten years ago. Instead, the results are stored in
RAM across thousands of machines which is incredibly fast but also very volatile.

This is necessary because there are so many new posts that storing them in a hard disk
memory and sorting them later for the index is not an option. They have to be stored
temporarily and organized practically immediately for near instant (within minutes)
inclusion in the SERPs.

This means two things, because RAM is so volatile, a small system glitch or power
outage on the machine that is storing your new post could mean that the data is deleted
and will never appear in the index, second that the SE needs to find a way to pick out
the few pages and posts from each social network that they are going to index and add
to the serps, and they need to do it fast.

Not all new sites are treated this way, this is a new index system that was developed
specifically for social networks and sites because they are updated so frequently and the
data becomes outdated so quickly. We have seen pages that have been posted to Digg
appear in the serps in as little as two minutes and typically within 5.

With that in mind, the second thing you need to know is…

Obviously, every new social page such as a Digg post or a Squidoo lens cannot become
a top ten listing, regardless of how well optimized it is, otherwise the search engine
results pages (serps) would change every second!

So Google looks at a couple of things to determine the ranking of a users page or post.
First they look at the at the amount of time a post stays on the main page of the social
site and then they look at the amount of views it gets, how many users link to it, and
the amount of time users spend viewing the page.

What does this mean? It means that you need to find ways to get your new pages and posts
to remain on the main page of the social site longer, you have to get eyeballs looking
at them and you need to make sure they are looking at them for a long time, long enough
to read them in their entirety.

In conclusion…

First and foremost, and although I did not mention this before, it should make perfect
sense: The title of your post, page, lens etc. is the most important part of the process!
The more interesting and thought provoking it is, the better the likelihood of it getting
clicked and read.

Try to get your pages, posts etc. listed in the featured section of the social site main
page, the longer the post remains there, the better the chances of it becoming a top ten
search engine result.

Another way to keep it on the main page longer is to get your readers to vote it up, this
feeds into the next thing to do, which is…

Get people reading your new post as soon as it is posted, twitter it, send an email to
your list, post it on facebook etc. The more people that read your new page the better the
chances again, of it staying on the main page and ranking in the serps.

And this should go without saying, but I’m gonna say it anyway, make the post interesting
and informative so that the people reading it will read it all. This not only helps get the
current post listed, but it assures that the next time you make a post and ask your readers
to take a look, they will, because they expect it to be good.

Many people use web 2.0 sites as part of their linking strategy because they’re considered authority sites. But most of these users are missing the mark altogether and using this strategy all wrong.

First, let’s talk about what makes an authority site, well… an authority.

An authority site is a site that, among other things:

-Ranks well in the search engines

-Ranks quickly for new keywords and pages

-Is trusted for it’s content

-Is trusted for it’s links and anchor text

-And is spidered almost instantly

Some examples of authority sites would be Squidoo, Facebook, Hubpages, Wordpress.org etc.

Here’s a typical scenario…

A webmaster looking to get a link from an authority site such as Squidoo would, first write a content rich article, then go to Squidoo and create a Lens (a page) and link that page back to the home page of the site they are trying to get ranked.

There are several major mistakes that have been made in this process.

First mistake: Most likely, the keyword or keyword phrase being used in the article, is the main keyword for the site, since the page on the site that is being targeted is the main page or home page.

Second mistake: They are linking directly to the home page of the site.

These are mistakes because: The main keyword of the site is too difficult to rank for, it is most likely too general of a term to bring any qualified traffic, and there’s no link juice on the page to pass on to your home page, even if it is an authority site.

Second, the main page of your site is going to be too general and therefore too difficult to get ranked.

You may be thinking, ok… what if I am targeting a more specific keyword phrase and pointing my Lens to an inner page of my site?

Well, you’re halfway there

Here’s what I do and it works tremendously well.

Write a unique and informative article optimized for a second tier keyword phrase – and by optimized I don’t mean spammy, I mean a very human friendly and readable article. This would be considered a money phrase because it is more targeted and more likely to lead to a sale then a general term. It is also much easier to get ranked for.

Create a Squidoo Lens like before, using the new article and link that article to a Second Tier category or money page on your site that is optimized for that phrase.

Then, and here’s where the magic comes in, write 3 or 4 similar, unique, but much shorter articles optimized for the same keyword phrase and place those on Other Authority sites such as Hubpages or Wordpress and link those articles to your Squidoo Lens.

The chances of that lens now ranking in the top ten on Google for that keyword phrase have just increased at least tenfold!

You can mix and match this strategy to capture more than one spot in the top ten as well.

For example, now write another article optimized for the same keyword phrase as before and place it on a Hubpages page linking again to your Second Tier category or money page.

Then write 3 or 4 shorter article targeting the same keyword phrase and place them on Different Authority sites, one could even be Squidoo, and link those back to your Hubpages page.

Just like with the Squidoo results before, the chances of the Hubpages page ranking in the same top ten as the Squidoo page has just increased tremendously.

So now you have a Squidoo Lens and a Hubpages page both appearing in the top ten results for the same money phrase!

By capturing the first 2-3 spots in the top ten search results, you could easily get 60% of all traffic to the search engine for that phrase!

To take this one step further, now bookmark those 3-4 shorter articles using bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumble Upon etc.

No need to worry about being banned from the bookmarking sites because you’re not bookmarking your own site over and over, you’re bookmarking different pages on authority sites.

When you’re finished, why not twitter you’re new pages as well?
